The Bereavement Journey®

The Aim: The Bereavement Journey® is an 8-session course offered several times a year to support individuals who are grieving the loss of a loved one. It provides a safe and compassionate space to help participants navigate their grief with understanding and care.

More Information

  • We meet in our Bethel cabin, and volunteers join for whichever courses fit their availability. You’ll help by setting up the room before each session and tidying away afterward, creating a calm and inviting environment.

We also host monthly reunions at the church for past participants to come back for ongoing friendship and encouragement — volunteers are warmly invited to be part of these gatherings too.

  • If you are a compassionate and patient person who listens with an open heart and is willing to walk alongside others through their grief, we’d love to hear from you. If you work well as part of a team, share our community values, and feel comfortable supporting both believers and non-believers on their journey, then this role will be a meaningful way for you to serve. Your kindness and understanding will be a real blessing to those who need it most.

  • There are different ways to get involved:

    • Course Leader: You’ll guide the group through the course content — booklets, videos, and discussions — making sure everyone feels safe and supported. This requires being a calm, caring presence who can also handle basic tech to run the sessions smoothly.

    • Support: You’ll be alongside the course leader, offering additional care and help to participants as needed.

    • Hospitality: You’ll create a warm atmosphere by preparing and serving tea, coffee, and biscuits — a meaningful way to help people feel comfortable and cared for.

We provide full training for all roles so you’ll feel confident and equipped to serve well.
